HTC, T- Mobile’s H2 Without Windows Phone 7
Though highly projected HD2 smart phone was announced in the US by the phone maker HTC and the carrier T-Mobile still there were no plans to put the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Operating System by Microsoft.
A large 4.3 inch touch screen and the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS have been included in the smart phone. Originally launched in October at Europe, according to Microsoft, the HD2 could not be upgraded to Windows Phone 7.
Thus, the users will not be able get their device upgraded once the new Windows Phone 7 is released. However the smart phones that would be compatible enough to install new OS will be available late this year.
According to Eliav, “HTC is not providing a projection on when or whether HD2 smartphones will carry the Windows Phone 7 OS. We don’t know when the first Windows 7 Phone OS device is coming out.”
The time when Windows 7OS was launched, there were an number of carriers that included T-Mobile as well that committed to provide the Windows Phone 7 series devices complementary with their phones.
The HD2 will be available in the United States from 24th March and would cost USD449. It is equipped with GPS, Wifi and Bluetooth. It has a 5 megapixel camera with 1GHz processor from Qualcomm. The weight of the device is 157 grams. The standby duration of the phone has been depicted as 490 hours.
The battery life of the phone is circa 8 hours on playback and up to 12 hours on audio playback. The device includes a 576 MB memory as well as an expandable MicroSD card slot.
A wide range of content providers in order to deliver multimedia have also been tied up with. Users can download videos from Blockbuster from Barnes and Noble. Live TV is made available due to the tie up with MobiTV.
